Burgenland
Burgenland is located in eastern Austria, on the border with Hungary, and is one of the warmest wine regions in the country. Around Lake Neusiedl, the vineyards benefit from many hours of sunshine and a mild climate, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally.
The region is known for powerful red wines made from Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, but also produces excellent white wines and world-renowned sweet dessert wines. The combination of warm days, cool nights, and the influence of the lake results in wines with plenty of fruit, elegance, and a beautiful balance.
Burgenland demonstrates how versatile Austria is as a wine country. At Vechtstreek Wijnen, you can discover a selection of characterful Austrian wines from this special region.
