Donauland
Donauland, now officially known as Wagram, is located west of Vienna along the Danube River. The region is known for its fertile loess soils, which produce full-bodied, aromatic, and distinctive wines. Grüner Veltliner, in particular, thrives here, yielding powerful white wines with fresh acidity, ripe fruit, and a characteristic peppery note. Riesling also excels in this region.
Thanks to the favorable climate with warm days and cool nights, the grapes retain their freshness and develop a rich aroma. Donauland wines pair excellently with fish, poultry, asparagus, and classic Austrian cuisine. At Vechtstreek Wijnen, you will find a carefully selected assortment of high-quality Austrian wines from this versatile wine region.
