Tasting note Nittnaus Selection Zweigelt
Nittnaus Selection Zweigelt has a challenging aroma of cherries and red berries. The taste is juicy, again with many fruit influences and a hint of spice. The soft tannins make this wine also suitable for drinking slightly chilled.
Wine & Food
Nittnaus Zweigelt is delicious to drink on its own, but it goes even better with a roast beef. Also great with an osso buco in a tomato sauce.
Other information
Zweigelt is a cross between Blaufränkisch and St Laurent grapes from Burgenland. And indeed, look here, all the benefits of both grapes in one bottle... A distinct juiciness of the Blaufränkisch immediately stands out. Immediately lots of morello cherries and red currants. The plum of the St Laurent provides a ripe tone.
The Nittnaus brothers' winery is located in Gols, the largest wine-growing region of Austria. The family has owned vineyards here for over 300 years. The youngest generation has been at the helm since 1986 and has clearly divided the tasks. The unique microclimate around Lake Neusiedl in combination with the very varied soils are an excellent basis for making quality wines.
The style of the wines is generally fresh with plenty of fruit and a nice balance. From a very early stage, Nittnaus embraced the principles of organic farming, and they continue to think about and work towards a way of working in which the environment is fully respected and the wine is created as naturally as possible.
