Tasting Note Nittnaus Selection Zweigelt
Nittnaus Selection Zweigelt has an inviting aroma of cherries and red berries. The taste is juicy with plenty of fruit influences and a hint of spiciness. The soft tannins make this wine suitable for drinking lightly chilled.
Wine & Food
Nittnaus Zweigelt is delicious on its own, but it pairs even better with roasted beef. Also great with an osso buco in tomato sauce.
Additional Information
Zweigelt is a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St Laurent grapes from Burgenland. And indeed, here you see all the benefits of both grapes in one bottle... The pronounced juiciness of the Blaufränkisch immediately stands out, with lots of morello cherries and red currants. The plum of the St Laurent provides a ripe tone.
The Nittnaus brothers' winery is located in Gols, the largest wine region in Austria. The family has owned vineyards here for over 300 years. The youngest generation has been at the helm since 1986 and has clearly divided the tasks. The unique microclimate around Lake Neusiedl, combined with the very varied soils, provides an excellent basis for making quality wines.
The style of the wines is generally fresh with a lot of fruit and a beautiful balance. At a very early stage, Nittnaus embraced the principles of organic farming, and they continue to think about and work towards a way of working that fully respects the environment and produces wine as naturally as possible.
