Tasting Notes Nittnaus Selection Pinot Noir
Clear ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, refined aromas of cherries, raspberries, and red berries, complemented by floral notes and a light earthy and spicy nuance. On the palate, smooth and juicy with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and ripe red fruit. Subtle oak influence (vanilla, light toast) adds extra roundness without overpowering the fruit.
Wine & Food Pairing
Nittnaus Pinot Noir is very versatile: lovely with poultry (chicken, duck), veal, and light meat dishes. Also excellent with mushrooms, risotto (truffle), grilled vegetables, and mild cheeses. Works well with dishes that have a slight spiciness or an earthy component.
Additional Information
Originating from Burgenland. Made from 100% Pinot Noir. Fermentation in stainless steel with skin contact, followed by aging (approx. 12 months) in partially used French oak barriques for extra complexity and softness.
The Nittnaus brothers' winery is located in Gols, the largest wine region of Austria. The family has owned vineyards here for over 300 years. The youngest generation has been at the helm since 1986 and has clearly divided responsibilities. The unique microclimate around Lake Neusiedl, combined with the highly varied soils, provides an excellent basis for making quality wines.
