Haltinger Winzer – wine from Markgräflerland
Haltinger Winzer is a German cooperative wine producer from Haltingen, part of Weil am Rhein in southwestern Baden. The Winzergenossenschaft Haltingen was founded in 1936 by 36 winegrowers. Currently, 46 active members collaborate and manage approximately 55 hectares of vineyards.
The vineyards are located in Markgräflerland, one of Germany's warmest wine regions. Its location in the extreme southwest of the country, near the tripoint of Germany, France, and Switzerland, gives the region a unique climate and a distinct wine tradition.
The Haltinger Stiege
One of Haltinger Winzer's most important vineyards is the Haltinger Stiege. Covering approximately 33.5 hectares, it is the cooperative's largest single vineyard. The vineyard faces southwest, benefiting fully from the sun.
Various regional grape varieties are cultivated here, including Gutedel, Müller-Thurgau, Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and Spätburgunder.
Another important location is the Weiler Schlipf, where the vines partly grow on steeper slopes.
A particularly warm part of Germany
Markgräflerland is located in the very southwest of Germany, between the Black Forest and the Rhine. Due to its southern location, it is one of Germany's warmest wine regions.
The vineyards around Haltingen are also close to France and Switzerland. This location has historically been important for the region's wine culture.
The result is a wine region where both German and French influences can be found.
Also Spätburgunder
This fits perfectly with the climate of Markgräflerland. The warm days ensure ripe fruit, while the location and temperature differences contribute to freshness and elegance.
In addition to Spätburgunder, Haltinger also offers Weissburgunder and Grauburgunder.
Nature-friendly viticulture
Haltinger Winzer emphasizes the importance of a natural approach to vineyards and careful winemaking. The cooperative also has a long tradition of organic viticulture and offers a separate category of organic wines. The organization is affiliated with ECOVIN, the German association for organic viticulture.
This is a great additional selling point for your webshop if you sell multiple organic Haltinger wines.
A wine cooperative with history
The history of viticulture in Haltingen goes much further back than 1936. Viticulture has been present here for over 1,200 years. The cooperative itself has existed for 90 years now: in 2026, Haltinger Winzer will celebrate its anniversary.
From a small group of 36 winegrowers, the organization has grown into a modern cooperative with 46 active members and approximately 55 hectares of vineyards.
