On the palate, it is beautifully dry and round, with a soft structure, fresh acidity and pleasant minerality. An elegant and versatile German Pinot Gris with a nice balance between fruit and freshness.

Haltinger Grauburgunder is a versatile companion for fish, shellfish, poultry, salads and light pasta dishes. Also delicious with a creamy risotto or dishes with mushrooms. Thanks to its round structure, this Grauburgunder can also handle somewhat heartier dishes.

Additional Information

The Haltinger winery Winzer is a cooperative founded in 1936 by 36 winemakers. The winery is located in Haltingen, a district of Weil am Rhein in the district of Lörrach (Baden), in the very southwest of Germany, close to the border with Switzerland and France.

The cooperative currently manages approximately 48 hectares of vineyards, spread over several carefully selected hillside plots. The terroir consists mainly of limestone and marl soils with a loess overlay, and the south-westerly orientation of the vineyards ensures optimal sun exposure and excellent ripening of the grapes.

Haltingen is located in the Baden wine region, one of Germany's warmest wine regions. This favorable climate, combined with the calcareous soils, makes the area particularly suitable for grapes from the “Burgunder” family, such as Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir).

Fun fact

Grauburgunder, Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are all the same grape. The names mainly change depending on the country and wine style. In Germany, it is called Grauburgunder and often produces fuller, rounder wines than the lighter style many people know as Pinot Grigio.
