Tasting Note Cap Maritime Estate Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir has wild cherries, plums, dried herbs like rosemary and thyme, ripe plums, musk, a light smoky note and classic Burgundy aromas on the nose. On the palate, the wine is structured with pleasant tannins, promising much for the future. Bright red color.

Additional Information
The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is located about twenty kilometers from Hermanus, the coastal town on Walker Bay, also known as the 'whale capital' of South Africa. It is warm there, but it rarely gets warmer than thirty degrees during the growing season. This is due to the fresh sea breeze and the fact that the vineyards are generally located at a higher altitude. The perfect place for making wines, therefore.
At home in Franschhoek, Marc Kent has made a name for himself with blockbuster wines like Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which belong to the absolute top of South Africa. But Kent has more strings to his bow. Besides these limited-production showpieces, he also makes exceptionally attractive wines under the names Porcupine Ridge and The Wolftrap, which are available to a wider audience. On a somewhat higher level, The Chocolate Block certainly belongs here too.
Forty percent of the harvest is fermented with whole bunches in concrete eggs, the remaining 60% is pressed and partially fermented and aged in barriques (50% new) and a smaller part in 600-liter foudres.
Did you know? On the top of the capsule is an image of a slender lady. This is the emblem of Boekenhoutskloof and is an adaptation of an early silver mark of the Cape of Good Hope, carrying the dove of peace and hope. She guards Boekenhoutskloof and represents intrinsic quality above all else.
