Tasting note Cap Maritime Estate Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir has a nose of wild cherries, plums, dried herbs such as rosemary and thyme, ripe plums, musk, a light smoky note, and classic Burgundy aromas. On the palate, the wine is structured with pleasant tannins, making it very promising for the future. Bright red color.

The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is located about twenty kilometers from Hermanus, the coastal town on Walker Bay that is also known as the 'whale capital' of South Africa. It is warm there, but it rarely gets warmer than thirty degrees during the growing season. This is due to the cool sea breeze and the fact that the vineyards are generally at a higher altitude. The perfect place for making wines, therefore.
Back home in Franschhoek, Marc Kent has made a name for himself with blockbuster wines like Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which belong to the absolute elite of South Africa. But Kent has even more tricks up his sleeve. In addition to these flagship wines produced in limited quantities, he also makes exceptionally attractive wines under the Porcupine Ridge and The Wolftrap labels that are available to a wider audience. At a slightly higher level, The Chocolate Block certainly belongs in this category as well.
Forty percent of the harvest is fermented as whole clusters in concrete eggs, the remaining 60% is pressed and partially fermented and aged in barriques (50% new) and a smaller portion in 600-liter foudres.

This is the figurehead of Boekenhoutskloof and is an adaptation of an early Cape of Good Hope silver mark, and she carries the dove of peace and hope. She watches over Boekenhoutskloof and stands for intrinsic quality that is above all else.
