Tasting Note Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon
The aroma offers wild berries, blackcurrants, spices, cedarwood, and tobacco. Take a sip and you'll find blackberries, bay leaf, pepper, and plums. Beautifully layered, with depth and an intense, long finish. The refined, well-integrated tannins indicate significant aging potential. In short: a full-bodied, rich Cabernet Sauvignon, yet with youthful elegance.
Wine & Food Pairing
Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon needs a bit of a challenge. Flavorful dishes such as grilled red meat, beautiful game, and lamb. A feast!
Additional Information
Boekenhoutskloof is a high-profile winery in Franschhoek, particularly impressive in terms of quality. Despite its somewhat unusual African name for 'French' Franschhoek, Boekenhoutskloof was founded three centuries ago by French Huguenots.
Even the current winemaker, Marc Kent, still has a connection to France. He visits at least once a year to find new inspiration in the northern Rhône, Cornas. Back home in Franschhoek, he has made a name for himself with magnificent wines like Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which belong to the absolute top of South Africa.
But Kent has more up his sleeve. In addition to these flagship wines produced in limited quantities, he also makes exceptionally attractive wines available to a wider audience under the names Porcupine Ridge and The Wolftrap. At a slightly higher level, The Chocolate Block certainly belongs here as well.
