Tasting Notes Torre del Falasco Corvina
The aroma features elements of cherries, licorice, and sweet wood. Smooth taste with soft tannins and a long finish. Delicious to serve this wine slightly chilled at about 16°C. This top-quality wine is a wonderful house wine for everyday enjoyment.
Wine & Food Pairing
Such an irresistibly soft, not-too-heavy Italian smooth red wine is delightful to drink. It pairs well with snacks: traditional Italian dishes like pasta and pizzas, but also tapas, spicy appetizers, simple meat and vegetable dishes, and it's also perfect with barbecue dishes. Anything goes.
Additional Information
The hand-picked grapes are partially dried in small baskets. This is followed by a long fermentation at a low temperature.
Valpantena, a valley northeast of Verona, has long been known as a wine-growing region. It lies in the heart of Veneto, one of Italy's most important wine-producing regions. Cantina Valpantena has been active here since 1958, a cooperative of 270 producers with 600 hectares of vineyards.
Valpantena's operations extend across the well-known trio of appellations around Verona: Soave, Bardolino, and Valpolicella, with the latter considered a specialty. From this appellation, they produce very interesting Amarone and Ripasso wines, among others. Cantine de Valpantena, responsible for the wines of Torre del Falasco, are known for their excellent value for money.
Fun Fact
Corvina is the main grape behind the world-famous Amarone. The same grape used for this smooth Corvina also forms the basis of the prestigious Amarone della Valpolicella. For Amarone, the grapes are first dried for months, creating a powerful and concentrated wine.
