Tasting Note BIO Esporão Reserva White 1.5 Liter
Complex aroma with many fruit influences such as peach, lemon, grapefruit and mandarin, supported by the spice and toast effect of the oak. The taste is creamy with ripe white fruit and mineral accents. Pleasantly fresh citrus fruit on the finish and an impressive length that commands respect. Straw yellow in color with a green hue.
Food Pairing
This organic Esporão Reserva white is delicious with poultry, grilled fish (turbot & sea bass), shellfish, veal, sweet and sour pork, Thai stir-fry with pineapple, or with mature cheese.
Other information
The Alentejo region is characterized by summers with very hot days followed by strong cooling at night, succeeded by an extremely cold winter by Portuguese standards. These ingredients, combined with volcanic soil and local grape varieties, form the basis for highly original wines. The history of the Esporão estate dates back to the Bronze Age. During the Roman occupation, the wines were already being exported throughout the Roman Empire.
The Esporão is made about 180 kilometers south of Lisbon in Reguengos de Monsaraz. The Herdade do Esporão winery is led by Australian winemaker David Baverstock.
Esporão Reserva White is one of the better white wines from Portugal. Eight years in a row in the finals of the Proefschrift wine competition and winner of just as many awards. Served in top restaurants such as Ciel Bleu and Toine Hermsen. Very broadly applicable in gastronomy. Unprecedented amount of wine for this price!

Unique to the Reserva line is that every year the label is designed by a different Portuguese artist.
