Champagne Jacquart – elegant champagne from Reims

Champagne Jacquart is a renowned champagne house from Reims, in the heart of the Champagne region. The house is part of a large group of winegrowers and uses grapes from various parts of Champagne. This allows Jacquart to create champagnes where elegance, freshness, and consistency are central.

The champagne house was founded in 1964 and grew into an internationally known brand. Jacquart Champagnes are characterized by a fresh, elegant style, focusing primarily on the quality of the grapes and the balance between the different grape varieties.

Champagne from Reims

Reims, along with Épernay, is one of the most important cities in the Champagne region. Around these cities lie the famous vineyards where grapes for Champagne are grown.

The region has a cool climate, which is ideal for the production of sparkling wine. This ensures the grapes retain sufficient acidity and freshness, while bottle aging provides extra complexity.

The three classic grape varieties

As with many Champagnes, Jacquart works with the three classic grape varieties of Champagne:

Chardonnay provides freshness, finesse, and citrus aromas.

Pinot Noir gives structure, power, and red fruit.

Pinot Meunier adds roundness, fruitiness, and accessibility.

By combining these grapes in different proportions, Jacquart can create various Champagne styles.

The Jacquart style

Champagne Jacquart is known for a fresh and elegant style. The Champagnes often have aromas of citrus, white fruit, and flowers, complemented by subtle notes of brioche and toast that develop during bottle aging.

As a result, these champagnes are not only suitable for festive occasions but also excellent for pairing with food.

Consider oysters, crustaceans and shellfish, sushi, fish dishes, poultry, and light appetizers.

Traditional method

Champagne is made using the méthode traditionnelle. After the first fermentation, a second fermentation occurs in the bottle. During this period, the carbon dioxide bubbles are created, giving Champagne its characteristic mousse.

Afterward, the wine ages for an extended period on its lees. This provides extra complexity and aromas reminiscent of bread, brioche, and toast.

Fun fact 🍾

The famous chalk cellars beneath Reims are kilometers long. Millions of bottles of Champagne age in the chalk quarries beneath the city. The constant temperature and high humidity make these underground cellars ideal for long-term bottle aging.
