Tasting Note Zuccardi Valles Malbec
The aroma and taste are full of blackcurrants, cassis, blackberries, and ripe plums, complemented by subtle toasted notes and spiciness. On the palate, the wine is rich and juicy, with a beautiful structure and a firm yet refined bite. The tannins give the wine power without becoming harsh. The herbal notes of thyme, rosemary, and fennel provide extra depth and a long, pleasant finish.
Wine & Food
Zuccardi Valles Malbec is, of course, an excellent combination with grilled beef, lamb, and barbecue. Also delicious with spicy sausages, slow-cooked pork, stews, and aged cheeses.
Additional Information
The grapes for this wine come from the Valle de Uco, at the foot of the Andes in Mendoza. The vineyards are located at over 1,000 meters altitude, where the dry climate and large differences between day and night temperatures contribute to the freshness and aromatic intensity of the grapes.
With this wine, Zuccardi primarily aims to express the character of Malbec from the Valle de Uco. The grapes are carefully selected and destemmed and ferment at controlled temperatures. A portion of the wine then matures in used oak barrels. This creates extra depth and spiciness, without the wood overpowering the fruit.
At the end of the 19th century, the Zuccardi family emigrated from Italy to Argentina. In the 1950s, Alberto V. Zuccardi founded an irrigation company, a logical step in a country where agriculture is barely possible without irrigation. To demonstrate the success of his system, he planted his first vineyards in Maipú in 1963, followed by an expansion near Mendoza.
Since 1985, his son José Alberto Zuccardi has led the family business, which is now globally renowned for its quality. Zuccardi has been named Best Vineyard in South America multiple times, and their wines consistently achieve top ratings, with some even reaching 100 Parker points.

Fun fact
Malbec is now the famous red grape of Argentina, but the grape originally has French roots. In France, it is mainly known as Côt and plays an important role in Cahors, among other places. In Argentina, however, Malbec has developed a completely unique style and has become the country's calling card.
