This Bobal Negro from Vicente Gandia has aromas of rich red fruit and caramel with light smoky notes. Complex and full on the palate, finishing with light hints of oak from the barrel aging. Intense red color with a purple rim.

Bobal Negro is a perfect pairing with grilled fish or classic rice dishes like Paella, but it is also delicious with red meat, meat tapas, and Manchego.

The vineyards of Utiel-Requena are located inland from the larger production area situated near the East Coast of Valencia.

The winery responsible, Vicente Gandia encourages its winemakers to create these types of adventurous and unusual wines alongside traditional varieties. The Valencian Gandia family has been active in the wine trade throughout Europe since 1885. It was not until the 1960s that they began bottling their own wine.

They were the first winery in the wider Valencia area. Today, they produce wine in almost every part of Spain, from Rioja, Rueda, Rias Baixas, and Ribera del Duero to Priorat.

50% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months of aging in lightly toasted French oak.

During the prestigious international AWC Vienna competition in 2014, Vicente Gandía was named the best Spanish wine producer. In the same year, the ‘World Association of Journalists and Writers of Wines and Spirits’ added Vicente Gandía to its annual list of the best wineries in the world.
