Wonderfully sultry, this Italian Torre del Falasco Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore. Seductive aromas of plums, cherries, wild berries, licorice, tobacco, and blossoms. On the palate, a slightly sweet entry of ripe fruit, gingerbread spices, and licorice, soft tannins, and a very long finish that is truly impressive.

Not only a fine companion to game, mushrooms, and stews, but also to cheeses, pasta dishes, and even recipes featuring tomatoes and tomato sauces. Incidentally, also delicious to drink on its own later in the evening. In short, the food pairing options are vast.

Additional information

Ripasso means "passed again," referring to the process where Valpolicella wine is passed over the pressed skins of an Amarone. The wine is made from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, has aged for at least 1 year in oak barrels, and can easily be cellared for another 7 years or so. Superiore indicates that the wine has 1% more alcohol than the "regular" version.

Cantine de Valpantena (responsible for the Torre del Falasco wines) is known for its excellent price-quality ratio. Cantine de Valpantena was named the third-best Italian wine cooperative in Italy in 2017 by the renowned magazine Weinwirtschaft.
