Enticingly smooth Italian red wine. Not too heavy, but with structure. Youthful, with an emphasis on fruit: plums, cherries, and almond blossom. Delicious served slightly chilled, allowing its lively character to shine through. Subtle tannins and a delightful finish.

With its somewhat lighter character, this Valpolicella from Falasco is lovely to chill. Pairs well with: salami, mild cheeses, olives, and toast with pâté. Ideal as an aperitif or on a terrace. It's versatile.

Additional Information

The grapevines are planted in rich soil where grapes have been cultivated for decades. This old and rich soil allows the plants to draw more than enough nutrients from the subsoil. This is also very important during the very hot summers. Because the vineyards for this Valpolicella are located at a higher altitude, there is still sufficient cooling, preventing the ripening of the grapes from happening too quickly.

When the bunches have reached the correct ripeness, the winemaker will give the signal for the annual harvest. The bunches are carefully harvested and then rigorously selected before pressing takes place. After vinification, the wine matures for several months in the cellars of Cantina Valpantena for more depth and body.

The Valpantena, a valley northeast of Verona, has long been known as a wine-growing region. It lies in the heart of Veneto, one of Italy's most important wine-producing regions. Cantina Valpantena has been active here since 1958 and has grown into a major force, i.e., a cooperative of 270 producers with 600 hectares of vineyards.

Valpantena's operations extend across the well-known trio of appellations from the Verona area: Soave, Bardolino, and Valpolicella, with the latter considered a specialty. From this appellation, very interesting Amarone and Ripasso wines are made, among others. Cantine de Valpantena, responsible for the wines of Torre del Falasco, are known for their good price-quality ratio.

Did you know? The name of the Torre del Falasco series comes from the bandit Falasco who roamed the valley around 1600 and hid in the hamlet of Stallavena.
