A full-bodied, fruity and distinctive red wine made from 100% Pinotage from South Africa. The aroma reveals ripe cherries, plums, and dark berry fruit, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and oak.

The taste is rich and juicy, with ripe fruit, beautiful structure, and firm yet well-integrated tannins. The oak influence adds extra depth and spice, while the long finish remains beautifully fruity.

Wine & Food Pairings

Perdeberg Pinotage is an excellent accompaniment to barbecue, lamb, roasted pork shoulder, and grilled meats. This Pinotage also pairs well with hearty stews and aged cheeses. Perdeberg itself suggests tuna steak, roasted pork shoulder, barbecued lamb ribs, and aged cheese as combinations.

Fun Fact

Pinotage is a truly South African grape variety. The grape originated in 1925 when Professor Abraham Perold crossed Pinot Noir with Cinsault. Cinsault was often called Hermitage in South Africa at the time. The name Pinotage ultimately arose from Pinot and Hermitage.
