Tasting Note Oddbird Spumante

A fresh and elegant alcohol-free sparkling white wine from Treviso in Veneto, made from 100% Glera, the grape we primarily know from Prosecco. The aroma and taste feature Nashi pear, green apple, elderflower, and grapefruit. The fine mousse and fresh acidity give the wine a lively and refreshing character, with a lovely, clean finish.

Oddbird Spumante is a delicious wine as an aperitif, but also very suitable with light dishes. Think of sushi, shellfish and crustaceans, salads, light fish dishes, and antipasti.

Additional Information

The grapes for the Spumante come from Treviso in Veneto, the historical heart of the Prosecco region. The vineyards are located on soils including limestone and clay. The grapes are gently pressed and then cold fermented in stainless steel tanks, preserving the fresh aromas of Glera.

The wine then matures for 12 months before the alcohol is removed at a low temperature. According to Oddbird, this method aims to best preserve the fresh acidity, aromas, and mousse.

Oddbird was founded in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden, by Moa Gürbüzer. Moa worked for over twenty years as a social worker and family therapist and saw firsthand how many problems alcohol can cause within families. From that experience, her idea arose not only to help people who were already dealing with alcohol problems but also to change the way we look at alcohol.

Her vision was actually very simple: the question "Do you want your wine with or without alcohol?" should become as normal as asking if you want coffee with or without milk. From that idea, Oddbird was born.
