Tasting Note Oddbird Sparkling Rosé
An elegant, silky-smooth and fairly dry non-alcoholic sparkling rosé from the Languedoc-Roussillon in Southern France. The nose and palate feature summer berries, crisp apple and citrus. The mousse is refined and the fresh acidity provides a lively, refreshing finish. The Syrah also gives the wine slightly more structure and a subtly spicy character than you might expect from a sparkling rosé.
Food Pairing
Oddbird Sparkling Rosé is delicious as an aperitif, but also goes very well with light summer dishes. Think of salads, sushi, shellfish, grilled vegetables, light pastas and soft cheeses.
Additional information
The wine is made from Syrah from the Languedoc-Roussillon. The grapes are given short contact with the skins to give the wine its attractive rosé colour and a light structure. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh and fruity character.
This is followed by 12 months of maturation on the fine lees. Only when the wine has reached its desired character is the alcohol carefully removed using a method aimed at preserving the aroma, acidity and the fine mousse.
Oddbird was founded in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden, by Moa Gürbüzer. Moa worked for over twenty years as a social worker and family therapist and saw up close how much trouble alcohol can cause within families. Based on that experience, she developed the idea of not only helping people who were already dealing with alcohol problems, but also changing the way we look at alcohol.
Her vision was actually very simple: the question "Would you like your wine with or without alcohol?" should be just as normal as the question of whether you want coffee with or without milk. From that idea, Oddbird was born.

Fun fact
For this Sparkling Rosé, Oddbird uses Syrah, a grape that you probably associate more with powerful red wines from the Rhône than with rosé bubbles. It is precisely the fruit, the natural colour and the slight spice of Syrah that make it surprisingly suitable for this elegant sparkling rosé.
