Tasting Note Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Norte
Deep ruby red Malbec with aromas of violets, lavender, ripe plums and fresh red fruit, complemented by subtle mineral notes. The taste is powerful and refined at the same time, with firm yet ripe tannins, a lively freshness and a long, mineral finish.
Wine & Food
Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Norte is an excellent match for grilled red meat, slow-cooked lamb and game dishes. A hearty stew or a pasta with a rich meat sauce also makes a wonderful combination. The fresh acidity and mineral structure also provide a nice balance with aged cheeses and dishes with earthy flavors, such as mushrooms.
Other information
With the Aventura series, Kaiken investigates how terroir determines the character of Malbec. This wine comes from the northern slopes of Los Chacayes, where chalky soils with calcium carbonate and small stones create a distinctly mineral and elegant style. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine matures for 12 months in concrete tanks, fully preserving the pure fruit and its origin. The result is a powerful yet refined Malbec with floral aromas, ripe plums, lively freshness and a long, mineral finish.
The symbol of Kaiken Wines is a goose species called: Cauquén (the Upland Goose), which is common in Patagonia and regularly crosses between Argentina and Chile. Aurelio Montes often made the same flight and saw the geese flying back and forth. During one of these flights, the name of the winery was born. How fitting!
