Tasting Notes Gigondas l'Hallali Grande Reserve 

The aroma is dominated by a spicy palette of red fruits such as plums, cherries, and blackcurrants. The taste is smooth with many fruit influences, followed by a very long finish. Brilliant red color.

Wine & Food Pairing 

These powerful wines cry out for food. Powerful food. Large cuts of roast from the oven, such as wild boar loin with herbs like thyme and rosemary, roast à la bourguignonne, leg of lamb with potatoes, or venison roast with game sauce. Tip: decant the wine about 2 hours in advance.

The wine comes from the southern part of the Rhône.

Gigondas la Cave made a significant contribution to obtaining its own appellation (1971) and has since been very successful at various quality levels. For a long time (16th and 17th centuries), Gigondas belonged to "Pincipauté d’Orange" where the Nassau family ruled. Louis XIV put an end to that, but otherwise, we might have had a real wine-growing culture in the Netherlands. 

The Gigondas Cave was founded in 1956 and has made an important contribution to the fact that this region obtained its own appellation in 1971. It is a modern company in a very traditional environment. With a share of almost 80%, Grenache Noir is dominant here. In addition, Syrah and Mourvèdre determine the composition of the different wines.

In addition to Gigondas, this cooperative also produces a number of excellent wines from the neighboring villages of Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise.

L’Hallali is the horn signal during the hunt when the dogs are allowed to eat.
