Tasting Note Feudo Arancio Syrah
This Syrah displays a remarkably deep ruby red color and an enticing bouquet of wild berries, black pepper, thyme, and spices, refined with notes of cedar and oak thanks to ten months of aging in French barriques. On the palate, it feels velvety with soft tannins and a balanced structure. The taste offers ripe notes of blackberries, cherries, plum, pepper, and clove in the finish. The finish is long, warm, and elegant, with a hint of mocha.
Wine & Food Pairing
Feudo Arancio Syrah is an excellent companion to spicy and savory dishes. Perfect with grilled or slow-cooked red meat, lamb chops, game dishes, and rich pasta dishes with tomato sauce. Also delicious with semi-hard cheeses such as pecorino or aged cheese. Serve slightly chilled at around 16–18 °C to allow the full aromas to unfold optimally.
Additional Information
After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place at approximately 25–26 °C with malolactic fermentation, followed by 10 months of aging in French oak barriques.
The vineyards of the winery Feudo Arancio are located on the southern coast of sunny Sicily and the grapes come from 2 different areas: Sambuca di Sicilia (full and structured) and Acate (delicate and fruity). After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place at approximately 25–26 °C with malolactic fermentation, followed by 10 months of aging in French oak barriques.
It is part of one of Italy's largest and most prominent wine companies: Mezzacorona. The name Feudo Arancio (orange villa) is derived from the nearby lake 'Lago Arancio'. In 2001, it was acquired by Mezzacorona in a very neglected state. The vineyards were uprooted and the winery demolished. No expense was spared to build a new, modern winery and establish new vineyards, complete with an irrigation system.
The winery is designed as an homage to Sicilian traditions, with great respect for the environment and nature. Sustainability is a key focus: from solar panels to reducing the use of chemical agents and with a focus on recycling. The wines are harmonious, full of character, and reflect the temperament and characteristics of Sicily; the sun, the sea, and nature.
