Tasting note Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola (0.375 cl.)
Intense aroma of red currant, wild strawberry and pomegranate. The taste offers plenty of red fruit, light vanilla notes, mild tannins, and a hint of spice. This delightful Sicilian wine has a ruby red color and has matured for 6 months in French oak barrels.
Wine & Food Pairing
With such a Sicilian wine, you eat classic Italian. Think of homemade lasagna with eggplant, an authentic saltimbocca, tagliatelle al ragù, pizza salami, or gnocchi with stewed meat. Or even better, with the local Sicilian dish ‘spaghetti alla Norma’.
Additional Information
Bottled in a convenient small 0.375L bottle.
The Nero d'Avola is the most important red grape variety of Sicily and one of the most important indigenous varieties of Italy. Named after the town of Avola in the deep south of Sicily, its wines are often compared to the Syrah grape. Winemakers brought this grape to the southern tip of the island a few hundred years ago. Today, it is spread across the entire island of Sicily.
Feudo Arancio is part of the large Gruppo Mezzacorona. Mezzacorona, founded in 1904 in Alto Adige, was one of the first cooperatives in Italy and remains the best example of how the interests of farmers and the production of quality wines reinforce each other. Since 2001, Mezzacorona has owned the Sicilian Feudo Arancio, and its vineyard holdings have grown to nearly 700 hectares, spread across the southern part of the island. Here too, there is much attention to sustainability, and the wines are made with the most modern methods.
