Tasting note Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola
Intense aroma of red currant, wild strawberry, and pomegranate. On the palate, there is plenty of red fruit, light notes of vanilla, mild tannins, and finally some zest. This delicious Sicilian wine has a ruby-red color and has been aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. The soft, velvety tannins make the wine sultry and supple.
Food & Wine
With such a Sicilian, you should eat classic Italian. Think of homemade lasagna with eggplant, an authentic saltimbocca, tagliatelle al ragù, salami pizza, or gnocchi with stewed meat. Or even better, with the local Sicilian dish ‘spaghetti alla Norma’.

The Nero d'Avola is the most important red grape of Sicily and one of the most important indigenous varieties of Italy. Named after the town of Avola in the deep south of Sicily, these wines are often compared to the Syrah grape. Winemakers brought this grape to the southern tip of the island a few hundred years ago. Today, it is spread across the entire island of Sicily.
The vineyards of the winery Feudo Arancio are located on the southern coast of sun-drenched Sicily, in Sambuca di Sicilia and Acate. It is part of one of Italy's largest and most prominent wine companies: Mezzacorona. The name Feudo Arancio (orange villa) is derived from the nearby lake ‘Lago Arancio’.
In 2001, it was purchased by Mezzacorona in a very neglected state. The vineyards were uprooted and the winery demolished. No expense or effort was spared to build a new, modern winery and plant new vineyards, complete with an irrigation system.
The winery is designed as a tribute to Sicilian traditions, with great respect for the environment and nature. Sustainability is given full attention: from solar panels to a reduction in the use of chemical agents and with a focus on recycling. The wines are harmonious, full of character, and reflect the temperament and characteristics of Sicily; the sun, the sea, and nature.
