Tasting Note Feudo Arancio Dalila Riserva DOC
Feudo Arancio Dalila features aromas of tropical fruit, jasmine, and floral notes. The palate is exotically perfumed with mango, guava, and candied pineapple, melon, lime, and Doyenne pears. A long, creamy finish in which notes of vanilla and honey emerge, though white and stone fruit remain dominant throughout. A beautiful, clear straw-yellow color. An absolute top-tier wine for the price!
Food Pairing
This Feudo Arancio Dalila is a true dining wine. Pair this stunner with hearty fish, white meats like veal schnitzel, grilled calamari, pasta with a creamy fish sauce, and hard or slightly aged cheeses.
Other information
The Feudo Arancio winery and vineyards are located in the southwest of sun-drenched Sicily, specifically in Sambuca di Sicilia in the province of Agrigento. The company is owned by Mezzacorona, one of Italy’s largest and most prominent wine companies. They wanted to bring wines to the market in the popular "New World" style and searched the globe before ultimately choosing Sicily.
When Feudo Arancio was purchased in 2001, both the winery and the vineyards were in a state of severe neglect, but extensive soil research confirmed this was the terroir they were looking for. A large-scale project began. The winery was completely demolished and all the vineyards were cleared. Neither time nor expense was spared to build a completely new, state-of-the-art winery, install an irrigation system in all vineyards, and replant all the vines.
Temperature-controlled vinification (max 16 degrees) and aging in stainless steel tanks for the Grillo. The Viognier is vinified in 3-year-old barriques, followed by at least 8 months of aging and batonnage. The blend then ages for another 4 months in stainless steel tanks and subsequently 4 months in the bottle.
This wine bears the name Dalila, a common girl's name in Italy, meaning kind and friendly.
Dalila is also the name of a seductive figure known from the Bible, who also plays a prominent role in the famous opera 'Samson et Dalila', composed by the French master Camille Saint-Saëns.
