Tasting Note Feudo Arancio Cantodoro
Intense South Italian red wine. With aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry, cranberry, alongside hints of liquorice, plum and vanilla. It is a refined wine with depth. The subtle use of oak gives the wine complexity and structure. Finally, a fine, long finish. It has a bright red colour with a refined purple hue.
Wine & Food
This Feudo Arancio Cantodoro is an all-rounder. It is delicious on its own. But it also pairs well with food. In the latter case, it not only classically complements meat dishes (grilled meat, game and pasta with meat sauce). No, it also pairs well with grilled fish and tuna and swordfish steaks, as well as a mature or aged cheese.
Additional information
The Feudo Arancio (orange villa) winery and vineyards are located in the southwest of sun-drenched Sicily.
To be precise, in Sambuca di Sicilia in the province of Agrigento. The company is owned by Mezzacorona, one of Italy's largest and leading wine companies. They wanted to market wines in the popular 'new world' style and searched the entire world for this, eventually ending up in Sicily.
When Feudo Arancio was acquired in 2001, both the winery and the vineyards were in a severely neglected state, but extensive soil research showed that this was the soil they were looking for. A large-scale project began. The winery was completely demolished and all the vineyards were uprooted. No expense was spared thereafter to build a completely new, state-of-the-art winery, install an irrigation system in all vineyards, and replant all vineyards.
The Nero d'Avola undergoes 15 days of malolactic fermentation and ages for 12 months in 2-year-old French barriques. The Cabernet undergoes malolactic fermentation for 17 days and ages for 12 months in 3-year-old French barriques. The blend then ages for another 4 months in French barriques and finally a minimum of 8 months in the bottle.
