Tasting Notes Esporão Monte Velho White
The aroma features predominantly fruit notes of stone fruit such as plum, peach, apricot, and citrus. The taste is robust and well-balanced, with fruit also playing the main role. A remarkably long finish. A light straw-yellow color.
Wine & Food Pairing
Monte Velho White pairs well with oven-baked pizzas, fish dishes, shellfish, and is an ideal match for asparagus.
Additional Information
The history of the Esporão winery goes way back. Today, it is a leading producer of Portuguese quality wines and olive oil. In addition, the company also excels in sustainability. In 1985, Portugal's most modern winery was built, focusing as much as possible on natural techniques.
A second winery was added in 2002, primarily focused on white wine. The vineyards are located in the Alentejo region. This region is characterized by summers with very warm days and strong cooling at night, followed by an extremely cold winter by Portuguese standards. This climate, combined with volcanic soil and local grape varieties, forms the basis for original wines.
This white wine was first launched in 1992. The name comes from the hill next to the Caridade dam, at Herdade do Esporão. Monte Velho is the best-selling brand of wine in Portugal and has won several awards.
