Tasting Notes Château La Rose Montviel

Château La Rose Montviel displays a deep, dark red color and aromas of ripe black fruit, tobacco, and subtle spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and supple, with velvety tannins and fresh acidity providing balance. The fruit remains beautifully present, complemented by notes of chocolate and spices. The long finish combines dark fruit with an elegant spiciness.

Wine & Food Pairing

Château la Rose Montviel pairs wonderfully with grilled red meat such as entrecôte or lamb chops, as well as with game dishes featuring mushrooms or chestnuts. Roasted vegetables, perhaps with a hint of truffle, enhance its earthy notes. Ripe cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort also complement the ripe fruit and tannins beautifully.

Additional Information

La Rose Montviel is the second wine of Château Montviel Pomerol and is part of Vignobles Péré-Vergé. Although this wine is already approachable and inviting, it develops beautifully further in the bottle; with an aging potential of five to seven years, the tannins, oak, and spicy notes become even more balanced. Serve around 16–18 °C and decant young vintages to fully awaken the aromas.

The Château was purchased in 1985 by Mrs. Cathérine Péré-Vergé. She made significant investments and restructurings to bring the wines to a very high standard. After her passing in 2013, her son, Henri Parent, now leads the estates (including Château Le Gay and Château La Violette).
