The Ca'Bolani Cabernet Franc is an elegant and smooth red wine from Friuli. The aroma reveals notes of red berries, small red fruits, flowers, liquorice, and spicy tones. The taste is full and harmonious, with juicy fruit and soft, elegant tannins. A characterful yet approachable Cabernet Franc with a pleasant finish.

Wine & Food Pairing

Delicious with grilled red meat, lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, and stews. Also pairs well with grilled vegetables and semi-hard cheeses.

Additional Information

The wine comes from Aquileia, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the northeast of Italy. The area is close to the Adriatic Sea. The cooling sea breeze tempers the summer heat, while the large temperature differences between day and night ensure the preservation of aromas and freshness. 

Ca'Bolani boasts an enormous estate of 890 hectares, of which approximately 570 hectares consist of vineyards. The vineyard area is divided into no fewer than 90 different plots, which are harvested and vinified separately. This allows the winery to optimally utilize the differences between the plots. The winery is named after the noble Bolani family, who transferred ownership to the Zonin family in 1970, who further built its reputation.

The Cabernet Franc is vinified separately to allow the character of the grape variety and the Aquileia terroir to express themselves fully.

Fun Fact 

Cabernet Franc is one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grape originated from a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Cabernet Franc is therefore not only a beautiful wine in its own right, but also an important ancestor of one of the world's most famous grape varieties.
