Tasting Note Waterkloof Circle of Life red
In the glass, a deep ruby red color. The aroma opens with notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, dark plums, and a hint of clove, graphite, and violets. On the palate, the wine is elegant and layered, with soft tannins, fresh acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, subtle spices, leather, and a touch of oak. The finish is long, smooth, and refined.

Waterkloof Estate, known for False Bay wines, was acquired by Paul Boutinot. Boutinot. What and who is Boutinot? It's better to ask: what isn't he? Domaine Boutinot is a very large wine producer, with operations spanning the globe, exporting to 40 countries. His "home-base" and winemaking heart are in the Southern Rhône, but he also owns properties in England, Piedmont, and South Africa. Boutinot has everything perfectly organized!
Waterkloof is situated on the cool, windy slopes of Schapenberg in Somerset West, Stellenbosch, just three kilometers from the ocean. All vineyards are located approximately 300 meters above sea level. Here, the grapes have ample time to ripen slowly, resulting in splendid freshness and layering.
