Tasting Notes Vacqueyras Beaumirail
A powerful and complex aroma of black fruit and herbs rises from the glass. Then even more aromas are released: black pepper, licorice, fennel, anise, black olives, thyme and cassis. Fresh, tannic and structured. A wine that can age well and benefits from decanting. The finish is long and warm. Vacqueyras Beaumirail has a warm deep red color.
Wine & Food
This Vacqueyras Beaumirail is a true food wine. The winery itself recommends quail with black olives. Other options include grilled duck breast, beef or pork, stews (daube, estouffade), pheasant with grapes, beef tongue with a Madeira sauce, beef teriyaki or seasoned lamb shoulder. But also Mexican fajitas or a Turkish döner kebab.
Additional information
Gigondas la Cave made an important contribution to obtaining its own appellation of origin (1971) and has since been very successful at various quality levels. For a long time (16th and 17th centuries), Gigondas belonged to the "Principauté d'Orange" where the Nassau family reigned. Louis XIV put an end to that, but otherwise, we might have had a real wine culture in the Netherlands.
The Cave of Gigondas was founded in 1956 and made an important contribution to the fact that this region obtained its own appellation of origin in 1971. It is a modern company in a very traditional environment. With a share of almost 80%, Grenache Noir is dominant here. In addition, Syrah and Mourvèdre determine the composition of the different wines.
In addition to Vacqueyras, this cooperative also produces a number of excellent wines from the neighboring villages of Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise
