Tasting Note Uggiano Roccialta Chianti Classico Riserva
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of ripe cherries, plums and blackberries, complemented by violets, tobacco, cedar wood, vanilla and Mediterranean herbs. The taste is full and elegant, with ripe tannins, lively acidity and a long, spicy finish where fruit and wood are beautifully balanced. Already delicious now, but will continue to develop in the bottle for another 10 to 12 years under good conditions.
Wine & Food
Uggiano Roccialta Chianti Classico Riserva is an excellent accompaniment to grilled red meat, côte de boeuf, leg of lamb and game dishes. Its character also comes into its own with pappardelle with wild ragù, ossobuco, truffle dishes and aged Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano.
Additional information
The Uggiano Roccialta Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG is a powerful and elegant red wine from the heart of Chianti Classico. The wine is made exclusively from carefully selected grapes from Uggiano's best vineyards and undergoes lengthy aging in oak. The result is a classic Tuscan with ripe fruit, refined spiciness, and an excellent balance between power and elegance.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are carefully selected and traditionally fermented. The wine then matures for approximately 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and French barriques. After bottling, the wine rests in the bottle for several more months before being released to the market. This aging provides extra complexity, soft tannins, and a beautiful harmony.
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded the Uggiano winery in the early 1970s and steadily developed the estate in San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone. With 100 hectares of vineyards on hills (in both Colli Fiorentini and around the neighboring Chianti Classico, near San Casciano), Uggiano produces classic and stylish Tuscan red wines from the region's main grape varieties such as Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
Are you looking for a classic Tuscan wine with more depth than a regular Chianti Classico? Then the Roccialta Riserva is an excellent choice. Thanks to the longer aging, it offers more complexity and elegance, without losing its fresh Tuscan character.

Fun Fact
According to DOCG regulations, a Chianti Classico Riserva must age for a minimum of 24 months, of which at least three months in the bottle. This is significantly longer than a regular Chianti Classico. This extra aging provides more complexity, softer tannins, and greater aging potential.
