Tasting note Uggiano Roccialta Chianti Classico
Chianti Classico from Uggiano has been aged for six months in large oak barrels, which gives the notes of cherry, raspberry, and thyme a distinctly earthier character on the palate. This provides the wine with a soft mouthfeel. The wine is lush with firm tannins and exuberant notes of red berries, figs, plums, herbs, spices, and chocolate, with a fine, rounded finish.
Food Pairing
A classic combination with tomato-based pasta topped with nutty Parmesan cheese is excellent, but it is also delicious with pappardelle with wild boar or pizza.
Other information
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s and steadily developed the estate in San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone. With 100 hectares of vineyards on hillsides (both in Colli Fiorentini and around the neighboring Chianti Classico, near San Casciano), Uggiano produces classic and stylish Tuscan red wines from the region's main grape varieties such as Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
