Tasting Notes Uggiano Roccialta Chianti Classico
Chianti Classico by Uggiano has matured for six months in large oak barrels, making cherries, raspberries, and thyme distinctly earthier on the palate. This gives the wine a soft mouthfeel. The wine is opulent with firm tannins and exuberant notes of red berries, figs, plums, herbs, spices, and chocolate with a fine, round finish.
Wine & Food Pairing
A classic combination is with tomato-based pasta topped with nutty Parmesan cheese, which is wonderful, but it is also delicious with Pappardelle with wild boar and pizza.
Additional Information
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s and steadily developed the estate in San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone. With 100 hectares of vineyards on hills (in both Colli Fiorentini and around the neighboring Chianti Classico, near San Casciano), Uggiano produces classic and stylish Tuscan red wines from the region's main grape varieties such as Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
