Tasting Notes Uggiano Roccialta Chianti
Bright ruby red in color with aromas of ripe cherries, red berries, plums, and violets. On the palate, the wine is juicy and elegant, with fresh acidity, soft tannins, and subtle notes of spices and Mediterranean herbs. The finish is fruity, harmonious, and pleasantly long.
Wine & Food Pairing
Uggiano Chianti is a perfect companion for pastas with tomato sauce, pizza, grilled meats, and classic Tuscan dishes, such as a hearty Minestrone. Its fresh and fruity character also shines with lasagna, mushroom risotto, grilled sausages, and semi-aged cheeses.
Additional information
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded the Uggiano winery in the early 1970s and steadily developed the estate in San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone. With 100 hectares of vineyards on hills (in both Colli Fiorentini and around the neighboring Chianti Classico, near San Casciano), Uggiano produces classic and stylish Tuscan red wines from the region's most important grape varieties such as Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
A classic Chianti at a surprisingly friendly price. Perfect for lovers of Italian cuisine and ideal with pasta, pizza, and grilled meats..
Fun facts
The name "Chianti" may only be used for wines that meet strict regulations. Sangiovese always forms the basis of the wine and gives Chianti its characteristic fresh acidity, cherry aromas, and excellent gastronomic character.
The name Roccialta is derived from the Italian words roccia (rock) and alta (high). The name refers to the rocky Tuscan hills where the grapes grow. It is precisely these lime and stone-rich soils that contribute to Chianti's fresh acidity, elegance, and characteristic taste.
