Tasting Note Tornatore Etna Rosso
On the nose, notes of red berries, Amarena and black cherries. The taste is elegant, with firm tannins that are well-balanced with the luscious fruit notes and the overall ripe impression of the wine. Very clear and light red wine.

Tornatore Etna Rosso is delicious with barbecue, lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, stew, pork, cheeses, and game.
Additional information
Tornatore's winery was established by Francesco Tornatore, who made his fortune in telecommunications. He only created a beautiful winery in Castiglione di Sicilia in the 21st century. This is located on the north side of Etna on volcanic soil.
However, Francesco's great-grandfather already planted vineyards in 1865, so Tornatore can not only boast over 150 years of experience but also has some old vineyards. Tornatore only wants to work with indigenous grape varieties, so Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappucio for red and Carricante for white, including manual harvesting.
Sicily is quite warm, but Tornatore's vineyards are located so high, between 600 and 1000 meters, that the wine achieves a striking freshness and elegance. Nothing is left to chance in the cellar either to produce great wines.
Wine with respect for the terroir: the grapes are slowly pressed in a vertical press and after fermentation in modern concrete vats, they mature for 3 months in large oak barrels (foeders). This means there is almost no noticeable wood influence in the wines. All in all, this results in very precise, elegant, fresh, and drinkable wines, which are also very pleasantly priced for Etna standards.
Etna Rosso from Tornatore is a masterpiece in itself. The volcanic terroir of Etna in Sicily, the altitude at which the grapes are grown, manual harvesting, and low-temperature fermentation are all elements that contribute to a great wine.
