Tasting note Telmo Rodriguez Gaba do Xil O Barreiro
Soft aroma with white flowers, spiciness, dried white fruit and honey. On the palate, roundness, white fruit, a hint of herbs, minerals, almonds and optimal acidity, all made without pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Light yellow color.
Wine & Food
This Telmo Rodriguez Godello loves delicacies from the water. From fried calamari to grilled prawns. From salad with octopus to a piece of white fish from the barbecue. But also great with various tapas and ideal as an aperitif.
Other information
Telmo Rodríguez is a versatile winemaker who owns vineyards throughout Spain that combine history, top terroir and quality. Fruit, relatively little oak influence and enormous drinkability characterize Telmo's wines. Telmo likes to work with old vines, so that the roots go deep to find moisture. It also benefits the quality of the grapes. Old vines yield less, but of high quality and complexity.
Gaba do Xil means: bridge over the Xil river. This impressive wine is organically made and the grapes are hand-picked. The 4 months of aging on lees in stainless steel tanks have contributed to the characterful taste. By not using wood, the character of the wine comes fully to the fore. Some of the grapes come from bush vines. These are freestanding grapevines in the shape of a shrub.
Deliciously versatile aromatic white wine with beautiful minerality. This wine region with an area of 1500 ha. is located inland against the eastern border of Galicia (directly above Portugal). This is the home of the rediscovered Godello grape.
Experts consider Godello to be the Spanish white grape of the future. Godello is considered the great asset of Valdeorras. It has the potential to produce beautiful white wines for aging.
