Tasting Notes Southbank Sauvignon Blanc
Pungent aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit, peach, apricot and nectarine. Intensely fresh floral taste with an extra long finish. The color is light with a green tinge.
Wine & Food
This delicious Southbank Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with seafood and salads or simply as an aperitif.
Other information
Modern white wine vinification. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, and the skins are macerated for at least 12 hours. This is followed by vinification and storage in stainless steel tanks.
Yealands is a large producer of New Zealand wine, and The Crossings is one of their top cuvées. Southbank is a soft, aromatic variant of the well-known Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Yealands produces wines in Marlborough on the northeast side of the South Island. The vineyard for Southbank is located far inland where the Waihopai River flows into the Wairau River; the vineyards for The Crossings are further south and also far inland on the Awatere River. So far inland, it is dry and cool with large differences between day and night temperatures. This results in expressive and fresh wines.
Miles Dineen and his team work in a certified sustainable manner. For example, sheep graze in the vineyard, reducing the need for mowing and naturally enriching the soil.
Other examples: biofuels are used, no pesticides and insecticides are used, but natural adversaries are promoted, and grape pomace is composted and spread in the vineyard.
