Tasting Notes Serre dei Roveri Roero Arneis
Concentrated and full-bodied white Italian wine, predominantly reminiscent of flowers. Additionally, the aroma and taste include: pears, apricots, a hint of chamomile, and hazelnut. With a rounded structure and a slight minerality. Delicate and generous at the same time. Straw-yellow color.
Wine & Food Pairing
Open this Serre dei Roveri Roero Arneis with spaghetti with garlic and olive oil, or with a seafood risotto. It also pairs well with fried calamari, a fresh Waldorf salad, salad with Coppa di Parma, or with freshly baked fish.
Additional Information
Arneis is found on the light, sandy soils on the left bank of the Tanaro river in Piedmont, Italy. The grapes are planted on the hills in the southeast and southwest. In the past, Arneis was used to make sweet wine, but since the 1960s, winemakers realized the potential of this white grape and began to vinify it separately from other grape varieties, producing an elegant, dry, soft, perfumed, and floral wine.
Piedmont is undoubtedly the birthplace of all prestigious Italian wines. This may have led to the almost complete stagnation of the evolution towards a more modern type of wine here. Not so at Cantine San Silvestro. This winery, founded in 1871, distinguishes itself by its progressive winemaking methods.
Barolo and Barbaresco still possess the strength and complexity for which they are known, but also align with the modern taste preferences of international consumers. This makes them one of the most important export producers in the region. Most of their wines are also very appealing even when relatively young.

Fun Fact
Arneis was primarily used for sweet wines in the past and later almost fell into oblivion. However, the grape made an impressive comeback and has now grown into the characteristic white grape of Roero and one of the most beautiful white grape varieties of Piedmont.
