Tasting Notes Serre dei Roveri Nebbiolo d'Alba
The aroma features fresh red fruit, violets, earthy tones, and some spice, but also tar (how could it be otherwise), tobacco, and flint. The tannins are present but reasonably soft. A very accessible style for Nebbiolo. Concentrated, flavorful wine with a light red color. It resembles a Pinot Noir, but with 14% alcohol. It is advisable to open the wine in advance. Kilometers-long finish.
Wine & Food Pairing
Open this Serre dei Roveri Nebbiolo d'Alba with richer dishes like grilled meats. How about a Bistecca alla Fiorentina? This is a Porterhouse steak, not a T-bone, as is often thought. Also delicious with mushroom risotto, truffles, Parmesan cheese, Manchego, and olives.
Additional Information
Piedmont is undoubtedly the birthplace of all prestigious wines from Italy. This may have led to the evolution towards a more modern type of wine almost stagnating here. Not so at Cantine San Silvestro. This winery, founded in 1871, distinguishes itself by its progressive winemaking methods.
Barolo and Barbaresco still have the power and complexity for which they are known, but also align with the modern taste experience of the international consumer. This makes them one of the most important export producers from the region. Even relatively young, most wines are already very appealing.

Awards/Distinctions
James Suckling - 90 points (2021)
"This has notes of peach pits, strawberries, nutmeg and chocolate orange. Touch of wild mushrooms. It’s medium- to full-bodied, with savory layers framed by tight-grained tannins. Drink now."
