Tasting Note Reyneke Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc
Lots of citrus, pineapple, green apple, apricot, peach, and passion fruit. Also a hint of flint, which makes for a wonderful addition to the other aromas. This is an incredibly fruity Sauvignon Blanc with freshness. This straw-yellow biodynamic wine also has depth due to a flinty minerality and salinity. That makes it exciting and unique. Layered, rich, and with an extremely long finish. Straw-yellow color.
Food Pairing
This beautiful, complex Sauvignon Blanc from Reyneke pairs well with shellfish, crustaceans, light goat cheese, and pasta vongole. But Sauvignon Blancs are, of course, perfect wines to drink just on their own. At a party or as an aperitif.

Johan Reyneke (open, amiable, and jovial) is South Africa's only certified biodynamic winegrower. He once studied philosophy before he started growing grapes. His deeper view on life that everything that lives should have an equal chance led him to apply the principles of biodynamic founder Rudolf Steiner. In agriculture and livestock farming, Rudolf makes use of herbs, minerals, and cosmic cycles that all contribute to a harmonious whole in which nature does not need to be artificially corrected in any way.
Ultimately, it is all about the product. Much less sulfite is needed because the grapes are harvested healthier, and natural yeasts are also used, which do their job excellently. In short, a pure wine with concentration, complexity, and its own identity.
The Reyneke label was created in 1998 when Johan took over his mother's winegrowing operations and started producing the first wines under his own management. The 20-hectare family estate overlooks the historic town of Stellenbosch and the mountain range behind it. It is located a few kilometers from the False Bay winery; the cooling effect of this has a positive influence on the ripening of the grapes.
