Tasting Notes Reyneke Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc
Lots of citrus, pineapple, green apple, apricot, peach and passion fruit. Also a hint of flint, which beautifully complements the other aromas. This is an utterly fruity Sauvignon Blanc with freshness. This straw-yellow biodynamic wine also has depth due to a flinty minerality and salinity, which makes it exciting and unique. Layered, rich and with an extremely long finish. Straw-yellow color.
Wine & Food
This beautiful complex Sauvignon Blanc from Reyneke pairs well with shellfish, crustaceans, light goat cheese, and pasta vongole. But Sauvignon Blancs are, of course, perfect wines to simply drink on their own. At a party or as an aperitif.
Other information
Johan Reyneke (open, amiable, and good-humored) is South Africa's only certified biodynamic winemaker. He once studied philosophy before he started growing grapes. His deeper view on life, that all living things should have an equal chance, led him to apply the principles of the biodynamic founder Rudolph Steiner. Rudolph uses herbs, minerals, and cosmic cycles in agriculture and animal husbandry, all of which contribute to a harmonious whole where nature does not need to be artificially corrected in any way.
Ultimately, it's all about the product. Much less sulfite is needed because the grapes are harvested healthier, and natural yeasts are used which do an excellent job. In short, a pure wine with concentration, complexity, and its own identity.
The Reyneke label was created in 1998 when Johan took over his mother's winemaking activities and began producing the first wines under his own management. The 20-hectare family estate overlooks the historic town of Stellenbosch and the mountain range beyond. It is located a few kilometers from the False Bay winery, whose cooling effect has a positive influence on the ripening of the grapes.
