Tasting Note District 7 Estate Grown Chardonnay
The nose is refined and enticing, with aromas of ripe apple, peach, and tropical fruit, framed by notes of vanilla and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, the wine offers a harmonious balance between creamy fullness and lively freshness. The oak influence is subtly and elegantly woven in, allowing the fruit to shine beautifully. The finish is long, clean, and slightly buttery. Exactly what you would expect from a top-tier Chardonnay from Monterey.
Food Pairing
District 7 Estate Grown Chardonnay pairs perfectly with pan-seared salmon, lobster, or chicken in a creamy sauce. Also delicious with pasta with mushrooms, truffle risotto, or soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert. Thanks to its freshness and refined structure, it can also be enjoyed on its own as a stylish aperitif.
Additional Information
District 7 refers to the seventh wine-growing region of California, located along the cool coast of Monterey Bay. Here, fresh sea breezes and fog ensure a long growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their natural freshness. The wine is entirely Estate Grown, sourced from their own vineyards, and sustainably produced with respect for nature and terroir. A modern, elegant Chardonnay that showcases California at its best.
In 1972, Al Scheid first planted vineyards in the then-unused and unknown Monterey County. What began as a grape-growing operation selling 100% of its production to other wineries has today grown into an absolute “premium player in the wine field”!
The Monterey region, approved as an official AVA in 1984, is one of the leading bastions of viticulture with its characteristic cool climate and is home to the most amazing and sought-after Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in California. With the chilly Monterey Bay at the head of the valley and two mountain ranges on either side, the Monterey AVA is characterized by morning fog, strong winds, cool temperatures, and abundant afternoon sunshine.
