Tasting Note Perdeberg Dry Land Collection Rossouw's Heritage
Rossouw's Heritage is an elegant, full-bodied white blend that immediately stands out with its expressive aroma and rich flavor. On the nose, you'll discover aromas of ripe pear, citrus blossom, honey apple, and a hint of tropical fruit such as lychee and passion fruit. On the palate, the wine is creamy and layered, with a soft texture, subtle woody notes of vanilla and nutmeg, and a lively freshness that provides balance. The long, refined finish makes this wine versatile for various culinary pairings.
Wine & Food
Rossouw's Heritage is perfectly suited for gastronomic combinations and truly shines with a wide range of dishes. Think of refined preparations of grilled fish such as hake, cod, or sole, a creamy risotto with shrimp or other seafood, and classics like poultry in a delicate sauce. Vegetarian dishes such as roasted pumpkin or cauliflower also align seamlessly with the character of this wine. Finally, it's an excellent match with hard, lightly aged cheeses like Comté or Manchego.
Other information
The grapes for Perdeberg Rossouw's Heritage (named after Jan Rossouw) come from old, dry-farmed bush vines in the Paarl region. Due to the lack of irrigation, the vines develop deep root structures, resulting in concentrated fruit with a distinct character.
After a careful, selective hand-picking, the grapes undergo fermentation, partly in stainless steel and partly in large 500-liter French oak barrels. The wine then matures for 10 months, about 30% of which is in wood, ensuring a beautiful balance between fruit and structure.
