This wine is from the Dry Land Collection of the South African winery Perdeberg. The Chenin Blanc grapes are left on the vine for an extended period until they are almost dried, similar to the Italian appassimento principle. This concentrates sugars and aromas significantly, resulting in a rich, aromatic dessert wine with a remarkable balance between sweetness and fresh acidity.
In July 2021, Perdeberg in South Africa celebrated its 80-year milestone in the wine industry. Perdeberg, founded in 1941, is known for producing remarkable 'dry land' wines. The company was born when owner Jan Rossouw brought farmers in the region together with the vision of making their own wines instead of selling their grapes.
