Tasting Note Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Bright ruby red in color with a refined bouquet of red and black cherries, raspberries, blueberries and violets. In addition, you will discover subtle notes of black tea, spices, cedarwood and a light earthy minerality. The taste is silky smooth and elegant, with fresh acidity, fine tannins and a long, refined finish. A Pinot Noir that beautifully combines power and finesse.
Decanting
Young vintages show even better after about half an hour of decanting.
Aging Potential
Already beautiful, but under good conditions this wine will continue to develop in the bottle for another 8 to 12 years.

Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is an excellent accompaniment to duck breast, veal, guinea fowl and grilled salmon. Its elegant character also comes into its own with mushroom risotto, tuna, charcuterie and creamy cheeses. Thanks to its fresh acidity, it is also surprisingly versatile at the table.

The Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is the signature wine of the Nicolas-Jay winery in Oregon United States. The wine comes from carefully selected vineyards in the best sub-regions of the Willamette Valley, including Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills and Yamhill-Carlton. Here, the cool climate and volcanic and sedimentary soils produce Pinot Noir with great elegance, freshness and complexity.
Nicolas-Jay arose from the friendship between Jean-Nicolas Méo, owner of Domaine Méo-Camuzet in Burgundy, and Jay Boberg, former founder of IRS Records. Their shared dream was to create world-class Pinot Noir in Oregon. Nicolas-Jay is now one of the most respected producers in the Willamette Valley, and their wines are praised for their balance between Burgundian elegance and the vibrant style of Oregon.
The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with natural yeasts. The wine then ages for approximately 13 months in French oak barrels, of which approximately 20% is new wood. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve as much character and finesse as possible.

The Willamette Valley is located at almost the same latitude as Burgundy.
