Tasting Notes Montes Outer Limits Pinot Noir
An elegant, juicy, and refined Pinot Noir from Zapallar on the Chilean coast. The aroma reveals violets, strawberries, raspberries, and ripe cherries, complemented by subtle spicy and earthy notes.
On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with juicy red fruit, beautiful acidity, and soft tannins. The wine has a fine structure and a slightly mineral impression. Subtle notes of wood and toast add extra depth, without overpowering the fruity character of the Pinot Noir.
Wine & Food
Montes Outer Limits Pinot Noir is delicious with duck breast, poultry, veal, mushrooms, risotto, grilled salmon, and soft cheeses. Due to its fresh acidity and relatively light structure, it is also an excellent red wine with fish dishes.
Additional Information
The Montes Outer Limits Pinot Noir comes from Zapallar, in the coastal Aconcagua region. The vineyards are located only about 7 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, at an altitude of approximately 150 meters. The combination of the ocean, the Coastal Mountain Range, and the cool climate results in a slow-ripening Pinot Noir with great freshness and aromatic intensity.
The soil primarily consists of granite, with varying amounts of clay and silt and a layer of gravel on the surface. These conditions contribute to the mineral and fresh style of the wine. Montes is also the only producer within the D.O. Zapallar.
The grapes come from vineyards on the cool coastal slopes near Zapallar. The yield is relatively low, around 5,000–6,000 kg per hectare, allowing the grapes to develop good concentration and aromatic intensity.
The wine is made with a focus on freshness, fruit, and terroir expression. A portion of the wine is aged in French oak, creating subtle notes of toast and spices. However, the oak aging remains supportive, allowing the character of the Pinot Noir and the cool coastal climate to take center stage.Discover more wines from the Montes winery

Fun Fact
The vineyards for this Pinot Noir are only 7 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The cool sea breeze and fog therefore have a huge influence on the grapes. The result is a Chilean Pinot Noir that is more reminiscent of a cool climate than a heavy, warm red wine.
