Tasting Notes Larue Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne
The Domaine Larue Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru 'La Garenne' is a brilliant white Burgundy that combines power with elegance and freshness. In the glass, the wine has a light straw-yellow color with notes of honey, vanilla, white and riper yellow fruit, minerals, nuts, and a hint of butter on the nose. On the palate, a soft start with a substantial juice content and firm minerality with beautiful acidity and an enormous finish. Beautiful color.
Wine & Food Pairing
This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru from Larue pairs fantastically with fish, sole, turbot or cod, grilled or à la meunière. Other great accompaniments for this beautiful wine include: lobster, Coquilles Saint-Jacques, poultry, or veal.
Additional Information
Domaine Larue in Gamay has quickly established a very good reputation with their wines from Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, and Chassagne-Montrachet, among others. In a light traditional style, precise and not too much oak.
The brothers Didier and Denis (and his son Bruno) Larue have their domaine in Gamay, a hamlet northeast of Saint-Aubin. The vineyards are therefore 'on the good side' of Saint-Aubin, namely on the side of Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet.
Besides much Saint-Aubin, the domaine also produces wines from Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet, appellations that are more evocative, because the world's best white wines are made there. The family has owned vineyards for several generations, but Didier and Denis decided to start bottling themselves.
In a short time, they have gained a very good reputation with an honest, pure, terroir-driven style at relatively good prices. Vineyard management is conscientious: pruning is kept short and green harvesting is carried out, resulting in low yields per hectare. Few pesticides are used, and harvesting is done by hand.
