Tasting Note Kleindal Chardonnay

The Kleindal Chardonnay has a clear golden-yellow color and an inviting nose with aromas of ripe yellow fruit such as peach, melon, and a hint of citrus. On the palate, you taste juicy stone fruit notes, complemented by a soft creaminess and a light hint of vanilla or nuttiness (depending on the vintage and subtle oak influence). The wine is round and smooth in the mouth, yet maintains a fresh balance and a pleasant finish.

Kleindal Chenin Chardonnay is round and fruity, making it a perfect match for salads with chicken or fish, creamy pasta dishes, and grilled vegetables. The wine's soft creaminess and fresh balance also pair beautifully with grilled fish, white meat, or mild Asian dishes.

Additional Information

A portion of the wine (approximately 20%) is aged in French oak barrels. This adds extra complexity.

Kleindal's success lies in the location of its vineyards. The vineyards are situated around the medium-sized city of Robertson, located approximately 160 kilometers from Cape Town. The city was founded in 1853 by the preacher William Robertson. Thanks to its favorable location on the Breede River, various wineries also found their way to Robertson. The Breede River is indispensable for viticulture in this area. It ensures that the vineyards are irrigated in the warm climate that South Africa experiences.
