The Jordan The Real McCoy Riesling is a fresh and aromatic white wine from Stellenbosch. Lime, white peach and Granny Smith apple are clearly evident in the aroma and taste. The vibrant acidity provides tension and freshness, while a subtle residual sweetness beautifully rounds off the wine. An elegant, light-footed Riesling with a delightfully refreshing finish.

Wine & Food Pairing

Due to its fresh acidity and light residual sweetness, this Riesling is particularly suitable for Asian dishes. Think of sushi, Thai curries, Vietnamese dishes and dishes with a slightly spicy or sweet and sour sauce. Also delicious with shellfish, ceviche and light fish dishes. Of course, also great as an aperitif.

Additional information

The wine comes from Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The Riesling is planted at an altitude of approximately 300 meters, on well-drained soils of weathered granite. The higher vineyards benefit from cooling conditions, allowing the grapes to retain their fresh acidity and aromatic character.

The grapes come from a German Riesling clone. The wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is stopped as soon as the right balance between acidity, fruit sugars and alcohol is reached. This preserves a small amount of natural residual sugar, without the wine becoming heavy or sweet.

Fun fact

The name The Real McCoy has a special story. South African winemakers were not allowed to use the name Riesling freely for a long time, as the name was legally reserved for certain European regions of origin. When the legislation changed, Jordan celebrated this with this wine: The Real McCoy Riesling.
