Tasting Note Jordan The Outlier Sauvignon Blanc
The Jordan The Outlier Sauvignon Blanc is a special, elegant Sauvignon Blanc from Stellenbosch. The aroma reveals ripe tropical fruit, gooseberry, and citrus, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, toast, and minerality. The taste is rich and concentrated, yet maintains a lovely freshness. The light oak influence adds extra structure and complexity, while the long, mineral finish creates a refined whole. A Sauvignon Blanc with significantly more depth than the classic, crisp-fresh style.
Wine & Food Pairing
An excellent gastronomic wine with grilled fish, shellfish, sushi, ceviche, and salads. Due to its richer structure and subtle oak influence, it also pairs wonderfully with chicken, veal, creamy dishes, and soft cheeses.
Additional Information
The wine comes from Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The Sauvignon Blanc is planted on the higher-lying, south-facing slopes of the estate, at approximately 220 to 365 meters altitude. The vineyards benefit from the cooling influences of False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, allowing the grapes to retain their freshness despite the South African climate. The vines are approximately 40 years old.
After a short skin contact, the grapes are gently pressed. A portion of the wine is fermented in French oak barrels, while the majority is fermented in stainless steel tanks. The oak-aged component then remains on its fine lees for about eight months, with regular bâtonnage applied. Afterwards, the wine is blended with the freshness of the tank-fermented Sauvignon Blanc.

Fun Fact
The name The Outlier literally means the exception. And that is precisely the intention: Jordan wanted to create a Sauvignon Blanc that falls outside the normal profile of Sauvignon Blanc. Not a simple, crisp-fresh thirst quencher, but a wine where fruit, oak, minerality, and freshness come together.
