Additional Information
Fun fact! The name of this wine refers to the work done on the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards before the grapevines could be planted. The soil was covered with enormous boulders, which were broken up using explosives. One boulder was so large that it required 300 explosions and therefore a very long fuse.
The Jordan winery is the only estate in Stellenbosch that owns vineyards (a whopping 164 hectares) planted in every direction. It is a true family business that has been making high-quality wines for years. They combine the ripe, concentrated, and fruity accessibility of the New World with the complex structure of classic wines. Their international accolades are therefore immense.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, where the juice is regularly pumped over the skins (3 times a day) for maximum color and aroma extraction. By working as much as possible with the help of gravity and by gently pressing the grapes, the wine acquires a harmonious, round character. An 18-month maturation in new and used French oak barrels softens the tannins and gives the wine extra complexity.
