Fun fact! The name of this wine refers to the work done on the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards before the vines could be planted. The ground was covered with massive boulders, which were broken down using explosives. One boulder was so large that it required 300 explosions, and therefore a very long fuse.
The Jordan winery is the only estate in Stellenbosch that owns vineyards (no less than 164 hectares) planted in every wind direction. It is a true family business that has been producing high-quality wines for years. They combine the ripe, concentrated, and fruity accessibility of the New World with the complex structure of classic wines. Their international accolades are consequently enormous.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, where the juice is pumped over the skins regularly (3 times a day) for maximum color and aroma extraction. By working as much as possible with gravity and gently pressing the grapes, the wine acquires a harmonious, round character. Aging for 18 months in new and used French oak barrels softens the tannins and gives the wine extra complexity.
