Tasting Notes Jordan Riesling Mellifera Noble Late Harvest (0.375 liter)
The Jordan Mellifera Noble Late Harvest is a luscious, sweet dessert wine made from 100% Riesling. The aroma reveals ripe apricot, peach, lime, and spring blossoms. The taste is rich and concentrated, yet beautifully balanced by fresh acidity. Sweet, but certainly not cloying, with a long, elegant, and rich finish.
Wine & Food Pairing
A wonderful finish to a dinner with crème brûlée, fruity desserts, tarte tatin, or a cheese board with blue cheese. Also delicious with foie gras or simply as a small glass of dessert wine after a fine meal. Serve well chilled, around 8–10 °C.

The wine comes from Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.
The Mellifera is made from Riesling sourced from a small, south-facing vineyard on the Jordan Estate in Stellenbosch. The vineyard benefits from cooling conditions and mist from False Bay.
The wine is only made in years when the grapes develop sufficient botrytis (noble rot). This noble rot causes the grapes to lose moisture, concentrating their sugars, acids, and aromas significantly. The grapes are harvested very late and carefully by hand, then pressed extremely slowly. According to Jordan, pressing can sometimes take an entire day. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature.

Fun Fact
The name Mellifera refers to the Cape honey bee, Apis mellifera capensis, found on the estate. The story behind the name is even more amusing: during the first pressing of this sweet wine, the winemakers' son encountered a rather enthusiastic swarm of bees. An experience that apparently made enough of an impression to name the wine after it.
